In the metaphor, “cause there's a spark in you” (AZLyrics), the rhetor is comparing the light and power that lies within our self and the bright spark that comes from lighting a firework. The brightness and power associated with fireworks is being transferred over to the audience’s personalities. The rhetor is also trying to carrying over the idea that the spark portrays the power that we have within us. By portraying our true self to the world the power is ignited and ready to burst allowing us to reach all of our desired goals. By expressing your personality to the world both happiness and success will follow.
Another metaphor that the rhetor used in order to influence the audience to feel a sense of power is also in the chorus of the song. It states, “baby, you're a firework / Come on, let your colors burst” (AZLyrics). The metaphor “let your colors burst” is used by the rhetor to

The metaphor, “after a hurricane comes a rainbow” is comparing the positive and negative aspects of nature to the outcomes of life. After enduring the hardships faced in our lives there will be a sense of comfort and calmness similar to what is felt when viewing fireworks light up the sky. When the storm is over we will have become more powerful and rise to the top. This then leads us into the next metaphor, “maybe you’re the reason all the doors are closed / so you can open one that leads you to the perfect road” (AZ Lyrics). This is comparing life and roads to one another. The rhetor is trying to influence the audience to believe that when some things do not work out as intended, there will always be other options that will lead you to bigger and better

At first glance, The Things They Carried seems like a collection of one man's war stories. But this novel is full of so much more, it talks about love, loss, and recovery. The author, Tim O'Brien, being a veteran of the war himself, used his writing as a way to cope with the trauma he experienced. O'Brien connects these themes though the use of conceit. Analysis of Rhetorical Project For this assignment, I decided to work off a subject that truly “strums” a string in my heart, which is racism, particularly the “Stop and Frisk” law which has arised in New York. This unfair law has been in my subconscious, as it strikes me as both illogical, and quite offensive to minorities. While the law aims to create “safety”, as well as eliminate criminal activity, it truly offends those who are suspected of crime, especially when a large sum of those people randomly happen to be POC. And, according to NYPD’s reports, 9 out of 10 of the chosen suspects are innocent. These people are pulled simply because they have a certain “look”, and I find it to be not only offensive, but…

Since 1969, America has seen an extensive range of presidents in terms of style, personality, rhetoric and overall demeanor towards the American people. A good deal of these qualities overlap in candidates who have won the election. For example most president-elects have said they have strong family values, support a strong American military, and promise to be tough on crime. While these stances have been pitched differently over the years, they all share the same basic ethos; reassurance. It seems that the American electorate respond best to candidates who continually reassure the American people of the inevitability of America thriving under that particular leader’s guidance.…
