Chemical Engineering While searching for a major and trying to figure out what to do with your life, it is likely that you will come across someone supporting more people in STEM careers. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics covers a very wide range of education and job opportunities. People who apply these disciplines in their careers are on the frontlines of American technological innovation. Chemical engineering is one of these STEM courses. In short, chemical engineers use skills such as chemistry, physics, and engineering to develop different and new processes for manufacturing chemicals on a large scale ("17-2041.00"). STEM fields are important to society in many ways, and I hope that I can make a contribution to the area of chemical engineering in the future.
Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are all connected to a series of jobs that fall mainly under one of those categories. In today’s world, almost everything you do during the day is related to or affected by advanced technology. Our need for skilled workers increases just as fast as our exponential increase in new technology (Feller). No industry exists in the U.S. that is not somehow affected by STEM jobs and processes. They all play a role in the U.S.’s technological innovation, which happens to be one of the greatest factors in keeping our economy competitive with foreign countries.
