Large wages, hundreds and thousands of schools around the globe centered around only this career, and having great responsibility to perform many tasks being given. What could this job be? A chef! I chose this job because I love working with other people, making others happy, and perfecting a task that has been given! To start, there are many necessities to becoming a real chef. Education is a major key to success. Many years of education, college classes, and hard work goes into being a chef. many students earn a 2-year associate's degree or a 4-year bachelor degree. Executive chefs may decides to go to school 7-8 years. After those 8 years, you need management training and several years of experience in commercial food preparation. This includes 2 years in a supervisory capacity and experience as a sous-chef, specialist chef, or chef. Several years experience in commercial food preparation are needed to be a sous-chef, specialist chef, or chef. Training programs may take the form of an associate's degree through a community college or a program offered by a professional culinary institute. An associate's program generally lasts two years. Advancement opportunities for chefs, head cooks, and food preparation and serving supervisors depend on their training, work experience, ability to perform more responsible and sophisticated tasks, and their leadership abilities. Head cooks can additionally advance into businesses as caterers or personal chefs or open their own restaurant. Others may become instructors in culinary training programs, consultants on kitchen design, or food product or equipment sales representatives.
