Cheerleading Stereotypes Essay

In life there are many stereotypes that influence our opinions and what we believe more than they should. When you hear about high school cheerleading many people think of a bunch of airheads in short skirts that smile all the time. What society fails to realize is that things are not what they seem. When looking from an outside perspective the true reality can be faded and hard to come by. As much as I hate to admit it, before I started cheering I was one of those people who thought cheerleaders were just really loud girls that wanted they played a “sport”. Of course i had a few friends on the team that I knew before but they were different when it was time to cheer. I have to say the first few girls that I became really close with Kalynn and Paige showed me that the reason people never see that there are not annoying cliches is because no one ever stays long enough to find out. Paige was always the one who would keep pushing me to do my best and recognized when I was really pushing not only myself but the entire squad. Kalynn is the kindest girl that I will always remember forever she was always smiling even when the coaches would yell she would find some way to laugh. They are part of my inspiration and why I cheer. I don't know what I am going to do with myself after they graduate. Paige and Kalynn are not your typical cheerleaders either, they are both amazing student athletes and going to go very far after high school. To all the people who think cheerleaders are dumb check again. Kalynn is a perfect example she is attending college with a basketball scholarship which is another one of her sports she is so very passionate about.
