When people think of cheerleading as a whole, most think of preppy school girls who prance around in skirts, and spirit just for teams who are playing. Although that may be what it looks like, behind closed doors are athletes who strive to pursue a career in body rebuilding and exercise fitness. Cheerleading requires a certain amount of physical activity that the athletes must be able to endure just like any other sport. Joshua’s article for example, provides a first hand account of the health benefits of cheerleading and explains how/why cheerleading can actually help with exercise and health. Also, while reading Ball’s article, she points out important skills sets to engage in cheerleading. Cheerleading has become more than just a sport, but a way of life and a drive for more active exercise. Another piece of research that caught my eye was in Nakajima article which explains why the absence of medical staff (trainers) has expanded the dangers of cheerleading and why trainers can be beneficial to the athletes participating by decreasing risks during not just cheerleading but all …show more content…
I have found plenty of evidence to claim as an argument of why cheerleading is a great source of exercise and how this sport can advance your body as well as to keep you healthy. I would appreciate to get the help of getting access to the the book called Complicating Cheerleading: Cheerleader! An American Icon, and I anticipate your help with making this desire come true. Are you familiar with livestrong.com and their tactics to building a better body? I have also planned to organize a fitness club outside of school hours to benefit others bodies who can not participate in the college level sports. I plan to work with a fellow cheerleader and set up camps as well.
