Many people didn’t consider the thing I love the most, the thing that drives and pushes me to be the best in life, and the thing that many people live for not a sport. The thing frustrating me the most is when people think Allstar Cheerleading is not a sport and they are usually the ones that don’t understand what it takes to be an Allstar Cheerleader and why it is in fact a sport. As the advancement in Cheerleading came full force into the world, during the early 1980s, there were many Cheerleading squads that were not associated with their school programs. These squads main focus and objective was the competition side of Cheerleading.…
Determination without limits Ever since I was 10 I've been immensely involved in cheerleading. Even though my cheerleading routine is only two minutes and thirty seconds long we practice eleven months of the year and roughly 10 hours a week. I'm now 17 ,and I put seven years of hard work and determination into cheerleading. Without Cheerleading, I would never be in the successful position in my life that I'm currently in. Cheerleading taught me about teamwork, leadership , and perseverance , lesson that helped me succeed not only school but in life.…
Going to all of my brothers’ games is what made me interested in cheerleading. Just watching them cheer their teams on was very exciting to me. There’s so many reasons why I’m in love with cheerleading but the main reason is because it’s one of the main sports that seems like a challenge. When I was a cheerleader I enjoyed going to the competitions. Cheerleading teams from all over the world would…
Ever since I was little I strived to become a gymnast. Unfortunately, we could afford the classes nor could we be able to go to practices because the destination was too far away. As if it were meant to be, that same day a flier came home with me for AIM Cheerleading. My mother glanced over it and she decided to enroll me.…
One of my greatest interests include cheerleading. i take part in sideline and competitive cheerleading for my high school. I also junior coach for a little league cheer team. from being a cheerleader myself, I look up to my coaches and see what it takes to be a good leader. from being a coach as well, I know how to act professional and to set an example for those who look up to me.…
In fifth grade I moved to middle school. I was shy and didn’t have many friends. Still on the hunt for my talent, I saw a poster for cheerleading tryouts. I didn’t have much experience with this, but what the heck, I decided to try it. From the second I tried out, I was hooked.…
While in middle school every young girl’s dream was to be on the varsity cheer team. While the last week in September we started trying out. I swear that whole week I felt sick and could not eat anything unless I wanted it to come right back up! After school we went straight to practice until 5:30. The older cheerleaders took this to heart and got so mad at us when we started joking around.…
Cheerleading Tryouts “Come on Lauren you’ve been doing this way too long, you’ve been on the team every year since you were 14.” I said to myself as I walk through the halls of my High School. Today is May 24, the first day of the annual cheerleading try outs and for some reason I’m extremely nervous even though I’m a three year veteran. I go through my classes talking to all my other cheer friends saying how this is going to be a breeze and how we can’t wait to start the season even though my stomach is literally overwhelmed with butterflies. DING DING DING!!!…
Since a very young age, I have had an interest in, and enjoyed caring for others when they are sick or injured. During my Freshman year of high school, I began to realize that the medical field was my calling. I was not sure what area of study I wanted to pursue a career in, but I knew that I had an affinity for the sciences and the medical field. It wasn't until two years later, my Junior year, that radiography became the area of the medical field that I knew I wanted to concentrate on. I have been a cheerleader since third grade.…
“Cheerleading involves a combination of strength, flexibility, balance and coordination akin to other competitive sports like gymnastics or dance” (Raza, 2016). In 2016 the International Olympic Committee recognized cheerleading as a sport. Yet not many people recognize cheerleading a sport. Cheerleading has already begun applying to be in the Olympic games. Getting any sport to be in the Olympic games is not easy task.…
College Cheerleading Verses High School Cheerleading The transition between high school cheerleading and college cheerleading can be a difficult challenge. There are a lot of different aspects of being a college cheerleader compared to high school. There are things that a high school cheerleader has to do to adjust to the life of a college cheerleader.…
Varsity suggests this is how cheerleading started. Women weren’t permitted to cheer until 1923. In 1948, Lawrence Herkimer held the first cheerleading clinic and he created the ¨herkie jump¨ that modern cheerleaders today are still familiar with. Cheerleading was happening in almost every high school and elementary school in the 1960’s. Jeff Webb founded the Universal Cheerleading Association, also known as, UCA.…
Cheerleading is more than just a sport, it is a lifestyle and it creates bonds that last forever. Most cheer competitions are held on the weekends because most athletes attend school. My next competition was on a Saturday and it was in myrtle beach. I was only eleven years old at the time so traveling to myrtle beach was a first. When the coaches announced the location a burst of excitement ran through my body.…
A Cheerleading Performer: Before the music starts your blood rushes through your veins like a shark about to catch its prey. The anticipation to hit the routine is like no other feeling. The voices of your opponents racing through your head telling you “you aren’t good enough’ and to “quit while your ahead.” This is it all or nothing. Leave it all on the floor.…
“Runners on your mark…Set...Poww!” Those were the last sounds I heard during what could have been my last race of my sophomore year in collegiate Track and Field. It was a frisky, yet cool Saturday in April and after a strong performance in the previous indoor and outdoor season (4x100m and 400m), I was determined to continue and uphold my strong form on this day. There is a saying that things do not always turn out the way we hope, but I believe, there is always a positive lesson to be learned from every life event. I love sports.…
