I’d rather be early than late like a few of the other girls. Eventually I realized that there was a lady in the gym talking to coach. I tried my best to listen to their conversation but I couldn’t hear much. I heard the words “Competition” and “All Star.” Recently I had heard about a cheer competition for the All Stars that would be held in San Jose. I live in San Francisco which isn’t that far away from San Jose, however, I have never been. We’re not All Stars though, why was that lady mentioning the competition to our coach? We had uniforms kind of like the schools uniforms. Ours were a little tighter so there wasn’t as much restriction of our motion. Ours were bright blue and white with our team name and some bedazzled designs.
After we had all gotten ready my mother drove us to the competition and as soon as I got there my adrenaline started pumping. The feeling was indescribable, I was overwhelmed with joyand terrified at the same time. I saw a lady with fiery red hair make her way onto the performance stage. She had one of those microphones with the big, puffy looking, black tops. She started to introduce each team. Aside from us, there were seven other teams and most of them had more people than us. When she called out our name, she stated we would perform second.
Routines are only a few minutes but the first one felt like hours. When our turn to perform finally came, we walked out on stage and tried getting the crowd pumped up, which worked. We set for the beginning and when the music started we realized that this was real and this was it. The routine went better than ever. The crowd erupted when I threw my double full. I got that crazy feeling again but this time I wasn’t as nervous because the toughest part was already over for me. We hit out ending formation and the crowd went crazy when the music faded
