There has been a debate for many years about cheerleading being a sport. In my opinion, cheerleading is a sport. Imagine throwing 100+ pounds of body weight in the air and having no choice but to catch it every single time, holding a person in the air while they are pulling body positions, and jumping in positions that you aren’t used to being in. That’s not even half of what cheerleading is. If you don’t consider that a sport, then hopefully I can give you some insight why me along with many others around the nation consider cheer a sport. According to dictionary.com, a sport is an athletic activity that requires physical prowess of skill and often a competitive nature.
