I missed tryouts, but they let me be a junior varsity cheerleader. I was so nervous about the first practice, but they seemed to be open to me cheering. This was all before school even started so I thought some of the people were nice, but others probably wouldn’t be. The first practice went great. Nobody even knew me, but they were friendly. Even the seniors were nice. I didn’t expect that at all. Throughout the cheerleading season, people quit and then there was only two cheerleaders for junior varsity. We began to cheer only at home games. Then our coach said we could take turns cheering at varsity district home games. I love business because it just seems to click, so I joined Future Business Leaders of America. Our little community of FBLA members had a common theme: being competitive. I went to State in FBLA as a voting delegate, but I realized not every school had as much school spirit and heart into everything they do. I continued to be in FBLA, but I wanted more for myself and my school. I wanted to make everybody know that South Shelby is the best and is involved. I went to state in competition my junior year. I became a district officer, along with two other FBLA members from South. Shortly after school started, I finished all four levels of my Business Achievement Awards, which will help complete my goal of having South Shelby’s name in more places.
