He and his mom were driving down the newly paved highway. Jamy looked out the rainy window, what he saw made him gasp. Jamy saw his Nom Nom, granted it was practily ruined. Jamy yelled for his mom to stop that same old blue car. As soon as Jamy's mom quickly pulled over into the graveled side of the highway, Jamy quickly opened the slick black door, but slowly stepped out. Jamy slowly and cautiously walked toward the stuffed bear. Nom Nom was in a shallow, muddy ditch. Jamy bent down with disbelief. He reached out to grasp Nom Nom to see how ruined he really was. Jamy noticed that Nom Nom was missing an eye, half an arm, and an ear. Jamy didn't care though. He picked up the ruined bear and hugged it, stuffing his face into the muddy fur of Nom

Though, close in distance, Sailor Rock was much harder for Greg to get to from the north side, rather than the dirt road they had always used from the west. Limping uphill on one leg with a crutch and maneuvering through rocky and uneven ground, was difficult enough, until he had to pick his way through the prickly bushes and small trees where the ground leveled near its base. Since he couldn’t go very far without elevating his leg, it took him two full days to finally get there. The wild plums and berries he found along the way kept him from starving, but it didn’t give him enough energy to climb to the top and for his body to heal.
