The concept of the Checks and Balances system is straight forward. It is used in the United States Government to ensure that not one of the three branches of government has too much power. The three branches of government, legislative, judicial and executive all have individual power and responsibility to make sure the other two are in check. Each branch serves a purpose for the U.S. Government. The legislative branch is in charge of creating and passing all laws. The executive branch is in charge of carrying out the laws passed by the legislative branch. Finally, the judicial branch enforces the laws passed by the legislative branch and executive branch.
