I am evaluating the extent to which checks and balances has created a limited government. Why should you be for the system of checks and balances and the matter that it creates a limited government? You should be for the system of checks and balances in behalf of the 22nd amendment and the case that each branch of government has their own powers. In document 1 it has showed a graph of the checks and balances. This graph shows that the system of checks and balances is a limited form of government. Some examples are, in the graph it shows each branch has their own set of powers and not one branch has too many, or rules over the other branches. Firstly in this document, in the amendment it states and I quote “No person shall be elected into office more than twice”. In this part of the amendment it is saying that there has to be a limit of how long a president is in office due to them being able to become a dictator. The next quote from document 3 is, “...no person who has held the office of the president or acted as president, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected president shall be elected to the office of the president more than once.”. Specifically, the texts states, “...President in every possible instance shall consult with Congress before introducing United States Armed Forces into hostilities or situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated”. Hence, this aids that the President cannot send out the United States Armed Forces into war without advising and acknowledging Congress first. Subsequently, the text discloses, “...President shall terminate any use of United States Armed Forces unless Congress has declared war or has enacted a specific authorization”. This quote from the text suggest that, the President can’t stop the use of United States Armed Forces unless Congress has declared War or has made a law giving permission to use the United States Armed Forces.
