According the document C by James Madison, it says, “...the constant aim is to divide and arrange the several offices in such manner as that they may be a check on the other….” As stated by Madison, the three branches protect each other because all of them will check each other off so that none of them have too much power. The legislature checks the executive because they can impeach the president and override a president’s veto, and the executive checks the legislature by vetoing congressional laws. Furthermore, the executive checks the judicial branch by nominating the judges, and the judicial checks the executive branch by declaring presidential acts unconstitutional. Moreover, the legislative branch checks the judicial by removing judges from the office if needed, and the judicial checks the legislature by declaring laws unconstitutional. In Document D, which is written in the constitution, states, “Representatives shall be apportioned according to population….” This says that the number of people in representation is based on the population of the state, so the areas with a larger population like Virginia (10), Massachusetts (8), and Pennsylvania (8), will have better luck than Deleware (1) and Rhode Island (1). Therefore, the larger states will be happier in representation, but no so much in the Senate. According to the constitution written in 1787, it states, “The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two senators from each state…, and each senator shall have one vote.” As it is claimed, each state will only have two senators and votes from each state, so the smaller states will be happy because now everyone gets equal representation. For this reason, this system of representation in the house and senate will protect against tyranny because it’ll make sure the larger states won’t have too much
