In a survey of 24,000 students at 70 high schools, Donald McCabe (Rutgers University) found that 64 percent of students admitted to cheating on a test, 58 percent admitted to plagiarism and 95 percent said they participated in some form of cheating, whether it was on a test, plagiarism or copying homework. I personally think that cheating is a stupid idea. Building good srudy habits is the best thing you can do right now. We all know how great it feels to have just done good on a test after studying hard. You don’t even feel that rush of excitement after getting an A on a test that you cheated on. I do not think that it is okay to cheat on homework at all. Cheating on homework is just as bad as cheating on a test. When you cheat on homework it will make the test a lot harder because you will not have the knowledge you need to take the test. I do not think it is okay to cheat on quizzes. When you take a quiz it is to let the teacher know how well you understand something. If you do bad on a quiz most teachers will teach the lesson again in more detail …show more content…
A couple weeks ago someone in class asked me, “Do you want me to show you where the answers to this worksheet are?” I knew I could get away with it by just changing the words and making them sound like my own, but i knew that would be the wrong things to do and even though I thought I could get away with it, I knew I would still have the effects of a guilty conscious. I think that people cheat because they are not confident in themselves and do not believe that they can succeed unless they cheat. There are many intelligent people that I know that cheated on the horror fiction test. I know that some of those people are very intelligent and have good study habits. I personally think that a lot of the people who cheated on that test most likely studied for the test, but were not confident enough in themselves to do good and resorted to

True citizens must go beyond the "right" expectations of a society by sometimes doing the wrong expectations in order to have the right outcome. Cheating is a wrong expectation in a society, and even though a society thinks cheating is never the right answer, there are a few cases where it may be a good thing. From the article, "What do school teachers and sip wrestlers have in common", by author Steven J. Dubner, he explains how cheating is a part of every citizens life, and how it may not always be a bad thing in a society because it is naturally a part of many people's lives and there may be some cases where cheating can be used as a slight benefit for some people. "It is the third grader who, worried about not making it to the fourth grade, copies test answers from the kid sitting next to him" (Steven J. Dubner 1). This example of how cheating may be a benefit might not be clear for some people because most people probably view cheating on a test, (whether it's just to pass a grade or not), as a meaningless act because the person who is cheating is not using the mind of there own.…

Unlike trust in the honor code, you can not change conscience. People will always do what they thinks is right. In other words, maybe students can be taught why cheating is wrong. Philip Altbach, a higher education scholar at Boston College from Source D, speaks on plagiarism and says says “It's just just easier to do… It's tempting to simply insert phrases”.…

Absolutely cheating is aways wrong, However, defining what cheating is can be tough. By dictionary definition, cheating is to "act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination. " I think our society is built on a system that promotes a form of cheating. By this I mean societal advantage.…

Technology today allows students to easily access information that may be used to plagiarize on their school work and exams. In light of the problems with plagiarism, honor codes and systems have become increasingly popular to prohibit the amount of cheating in schools. While my school currently has an honor code, it would be better to revise it so the student culture regarding the code will improve and to ensure that students desire to succeed and do well on their work. To begin, student culture regarding the honor codes at their schools is essential because it determines whether or not the rules would be taken seriously. There may be an honor code that is strictly enforced, but if students have no part of the process and are only punished,…

I, personally, do not believe that cheating is acceptable in any situation. I don’t think you should be able to take drugs to make yourself a better athlete, diss your opponents during a political debate to make yourself look better, or allow someone to cheat off of your assignments and/or quizzes. It's not right for you to make personal gains at someone’s expense. I don’t believe cheating ever helps the greater good.…

However, the pressure to succeed in a classroom setting has become so intense that some students have begun cheating for a variety of reasons. Although I have never cheated myself, I can honestly see the appeal in taking shortcuts when deadlines pile up with no end in sight. Critics of those who cheat can easily point at a cheating student and discuss how poor of a student they are, but the critics never stop to consider the amount of pressure a student truly is under. Cheating has always been considered a terrible act that shows poor character, however, what acts are considered cheating and are not are often fuzzy to students.…

Cheating on in-class tests is more wrong than other common types of academic dishonesty. A plagiarist may get high score by simply write everything down on an illegal cheat sheet, but it doesn’t reflect his or her actual ability. Moreover, it is unfair to other students who make lots of effort to earn the best grade (Kennesaw State University, 2011). Secondly, almost every professor will make it clear that they have zero tolerance with cheating. Cheaters know the rule but still violate it.…

Cheating is around in all shapes forms and fashion and some people clean to cheating to help them gain in society. As in this example in the msnbc.com post back in 2011 a college student took the SAT for high-school students and was paid up to $2,500. “Between 2010 and 2011, six students at Long Island's Great Neck North High School paid Sam Eshaghoff, 19, between $1,500 and $2,500 each to take the SAT for them, Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice said (TodayNews).” I feel as if the college students were doing it to help them come up across all board. The student that was getting paid was gaining because he was making money even though he lost by getting four years in prison for fraud and cheating.…

I first became interested in cognitive neuroscience my sophomore year of high school. I had signed up for AP Psychology because I heard that it was a fun course. But a few months later, I delved into research about Phineas Gage, one of my favorite case studies of the course. Before taking Psychology, I would have classified myself as a biology person. So after years of learning how vital and how delicate the brain was, the fact Gage could survive after his accident was absolutely extraordinary.…
