Features and Location
Chatswood is a growing suburb of Sydney, located approximately 10.6 kilometres from the Sydney CBD via M1 by car. According to the 2011 Australian census, the population of Chatswood is 21,194. It has many parks and reserves, and is comprised of high-rise and low-rise buildings. The Lane Cove river also passes through Chatswood.

Chatswood has a large population with a diverse range of nationalities. The population is 21,194 and only 7,850 of those people were born in Australia, which shows how ethnically diverse Chatswood is. A large portion of the population of Chatswood is Asian, but there are so many other cultures in the mix. There is also a wide variety of ethnic cafes and restaurants. There is Japanese, Chinese, Malaysian, French, Korean, Mexican, Italian and Thai restaurants- just to name a few!

There is a lot of graffiti and vandalism all throughout Chatswood, especially in and around the train station. Near ‘The District’, there was a sign that had been stolen. The crime and surveillance system is passable, but not prevalent enough. Chatswood’s parks and shopping centre etc. there are not enough surveillance cameras. There is an adequate choice of schools, there are 4 within Chatswood, but only one of those is a primary school, and three high schools. The primary school is struggling with an overflow of students, and some of the classes from the primary schools have actually had to have lessons in the high school. There is access to many medical centres especially within the Chatswood CBD. There is only one aged care facility in the whole of Chatswood, so some of Chatswood’s older citizens have nowhere to
