The Barbarians The Barbarians were barbaric because they established their courageous acts and they were fearless, which lead to them conquering nearly all of Asia and create a enormous empire. When the Barbarians show how careless and reckless they were by the way they lived, that allowed them to possibly corrupt all of their empire. By the way they lived they didn't care at all how they treated their civilization as a whole. “From the start...lived in round moveable houses they called yurts.…
At the beginning there was nothing, but dragons in free space. They would use their fire breathing for light. Every breath they took, lit their way. Most of the dragons lived in peace and harmony. However, the strong dragon Levi, leader of the Andromeda army, wanted to control all dragons.…
The Reign of Terror was one of the most brutal events of the French Revolution, killing over 35,000 people, including two rulers. The Reign of Terror was an 18 month period where Maximillien Robespierre led the government to execute all who did not support the revolution. These enemies were located both inside and outside the country of France. Some documents support the Reign of Terror, but it can also be argued that it was unfair and unjustified. After reading several documents, I feel the government’s campaign to execute thousands of innocent citizens was not justified for multiple reasons.…
America formed many compromises to resolve political disputes between the years of 1820 and 1860. Many of political uprisings were caused by the conflict over slavery; should slavery be legal, or abolished? The Second Great Awakening was a religious reform in the early nineteenth century America, preachers like Charles Finney travelled around the world to lecture people about the importance of religion. These preachers lectured to their audience that their sins could be cleansed forever.…
An interesting fact about the central bearded dragon is that they can somehow lock their legs in a position so they are able to sleep standing up. In this assignment I will do a research and find out what their natural habitat is, what they need in captivity and what feed they should get. I will get this information from credible sources, such as animaldiversity.org, which I will present at the end of this assignment. The Central bearded dragon is a reptile living in Eastern and Central Australia.…
The evangelical development of the Second Great Awakening, and the progress of the Market revolution swept the nation during the first half of the nineteenth century. During the same decades, the role of women in America changed. The Market Revolution indicated the downturn of subsistence farming and the commercialization of the economic life of Americans. For the first time, factories arose, as textiles were progressively manufactured in mills like those in Lowell, Massachusetts. Although still treated lesser to men, women attained new opportunities in the working profession as teachers, nurses, and domestic service providers as a result of the Second Great Awakening, and the Market Revolution.…
Many reform movements dealing with women’s’ rights, slavery and the penitentiary system were established in the United States in order to expand democratic ideals. The Second Great Awakening was occurring during this time and was the reason for these movements. The Second Great Awakening was led by leaders who encouraged changes in American society through the unity of the American people (Document B). The women’s suffrage movement supported democratic ideals because it was a movement that fought for the equality of women.…
In the late 1700s a revolutionary movement swept across France bringing an end to the old way of life. This revolt began in a moderately liberal direction, but when a constitutional monarchy failed, the revolution tured in a more radical direction. When the King of France, Louis XIV, was forced from his throne and executed, a time of extreme radicalism and revolutionary action began. The National Convention formed the committee of public health and safety with Robespierre at the head and the Reign of Terror was instituted as an official policy. During the Reign of Terror from 1793 to 1794 the Committee of Public Health and Safety used terror to centralize the government and promote nationalism while defending France from outside threats…
The documentary titled “Pleasure Unwoven: A Personal Journey About Addiction” was an interesting look at the theories behind addiction that classify addiction as a disease and the previous theories that discredited addiction as a disease. One part of the documentary that I learned the most from was the part that discussed the “choice argument” for addiction. Another part of the documentary that I learned a lot from was their discussion of the biological aspect of addiction and addictions effect on a human’s midbrain. Overall, I found this documentary very informative and can see myself utilizing the information I learned in my future career path.…
As a minority, living in a world surrounded by racism and stereotypes can be very difficult to face. Many males believe that to become accepted by society, they must possess typical masculine qualities. According to modern culture these traits include strength, defiance, and assertiveness. These characteristics, however, are misrepresentations of black masculinity, and should not be a factor when defining men. A perfect example of how inequality deeply affects social interaction and developing adolescences can be found in John Singleton’s Shaft and Berry Gordy’s…

“Climbing The Golden Arches” is an essay written by Marissa Nuñez published originally in New Youth Connections, republished in The Norton Sampler. The main idea of this essay is that although the road to a successful career is fraught with hardships, it can be overcome with hard work and determination. At the beginning of the essay, Nuñez describes a scene in which she and her cousin went to eat at McDonald’s and decided to try out for a job there out of curiosity. They filed their applications and about a month later had their job interviews in which both passed. The author was initially surprised to receive the job but that turned into happiness when she realized that she no longer would have to depend on her mother for money anymore.…
The Dragon Prince In a strange night, I rushed my way through maze of shops, so that I could avoid people attention around me and suddenly a woman seize my arm and pulled me closer to her. “I sell many fruits and at the good price, I could give you a discount since you are one handsome young man” the old woman smiled generously and waved her hand at me from a stand of red apple. The truth is, my stomach is like want to ask the red apple from the old woman, if only I had more money, I can buy the red apple for eating. But needed to repair my sword with this money. “I’ll buy some if I have more money” I said and say good bye to her.…
