It is apparent that the issue of global climate change and how to create a more sustainable environment are becoming more and more prominent in social media. One good example is the film, Chasing Ice; a chilling documentary that follows the work of nature photographer, James Balog, on his expeditions across the arctic to capture the devastating effects of global warming on camera. Balog has been able to document the melting of polar ice caps and track the aggressive rate at which they are melting and calving, providing irrefutable evidence that global warming is having a huge impact all around the world and that something must be done to stop it. He does all of this in hopes of spreading awareness of the tremendous and detrimental impact humans are having on the environment; he strives to inform the world of what global warming is actually doing, in an attempt to encourage viewers to do their part to save the planet. Within this content, there are certain topics that relate to the film “Chasing Ice” such as, the impacts of global warming and the annual global temperature rise. The content suggests, that although no one can exactly forecast the exact effects on the increased temperature, “some experts have predicted severe droughts and a rise in ocean leaves of 0.6 meters (2 feet) to 6 meters (20 feet)- conditions that will affect everyone on Earth” (Hales, & Lauzon, 2018). James Balog has also agreed with this, predicting that in his “daughter's lifetimes sea levels will increase between 1.5-3 feet” (----------). They range in size from being as small as a soccer field to massive ice sheets that are the same size as some continents.…

But, this is not just another scene from a sci-fi film of a population that has expedited their vital resources, but the reality for the “over 7 billion people” who populate the home we call earth (Hardaway 4).
