Physical Education provides many great opportunities for a student 's grades kindergarten through twelfth grade to develop “knowledge, skills, fitness, and attitudes to enhance their quality of life through physical activity” (Chartrand and Guerrant). Researchers have shown the students participating in PE or physical active have enhanced the quality of their life by having better memory for learning, better concentration, and it has also improved problem solving skills. The body is capable of working out up to four hours a day past 4 hours the body does not progressed in any way muscularly. The body needs recovering time to better with working out past 4 hours the body will not get the recovery time that is necessary to improve muscularly. Technically there is no such thing as working out too much but there is such thing as the body not benefiting from working out. For weightlifting only 20% of your muscular strength and fitness will come from this activity. 80% of weight loss happens outside of the gym with everyday life activities and nutrition. Also one needs to focus on one main thing to see improvement in it. Focusing is a big part of working out and seeing results. This article is relevant to the topic of “ Should students participating in varsity sports be required to take physical education” due to it giving many statistics on how the body recovers and what is good for the body on terms of working out. This helps with the debate that students in varsity sports should not be required to take physical education if they are already getting the benefits from their own workout. With too much working out the body is not able to recover therefore, with a varsity sport and a physical education class one would not show a great amount of improvement in the …show more content…
She thoroughly explained the benefit of physical education into further depth than the state of Michigan 's own web articles. She explained how she benefited as a college athlete from taking this course throughout her school sports and how she would not have gotten the information the class provided if she had opted out of take the course. This gave valuable information on the program and the true benefits to a student athlete for what if provides. Although this was an opposition it gave a clearer idea to the other side of the
