As I move through this semester I am learning more and more that teamwork is needed in almost every area of the student affairs profession. If you would have asked me a year ago to draft a conference proposal I would have said it only took one or two people to complete the task needed to submit a good proposal. The last month has changed this previous mindset though, as I have found it takes many dedicated individuals to help draft a good proposal. I decided to work with Rachael Kowbel who is the Director of Admission for the College of Dentistry and we drafted a proposal discussing how closed-door student panels affect incoming students in both a positive and negative way. Below this paper will discuss how the team was formed, my individual role on the team and how all of the information came together during the process.…

The purpose of this post is to describe the role of nurse leaders in promoting evidence based practice. I will describe strategies used for implementation of change in evidence based practice; discuss the influences that are changing health care culture including current issues and trends, and compare the nursing work group culture with other organizational cultures. An important part of the nursing leader role is to influence the culture and climate in the department (Huber, 2014). Nurse leaders must have an accurate understanding of the culture and climate of their unit to be able to implement change effectively. A leader needs to create a vision that encourages and inspires nurses to take part in the evidence based change.…

The field of evaluation has grown and continues to develop into a field of many facets. Several aspects of the field are easily divisible into three categories: Values, Methods and Use. Much like the evaluation process, the Urban Options Projects incorporates a level of importance for value. Patient and employee satisfaction is an essential component of a successful organization. If the patients are unhappy with their care or service they will not return; patients have a choice in where they receive healthcare. Without substantial patient flow the hospital loses revenue and eventually jobs. Patient satisfaction is absolutely necessary and priority for every nurse leader. Employees must also be satisfied with their work.…
