There was panic in the streets as medics tried to revive one woman and help the other injured. Fields completely crossed the line by driving his car into a crowd of protestors solely because they held different views and beliefs than him. Those people had a right to their opinions and ideas just like Fields, but he chose to resort to violence to try and silence them. The family of the woman who was killed by Fields spoke

The First Amendment was created to allow all people in America to openly express their opinions, regardless of popularity. I believe that white supremacists should no exception. However, the issue arises when the speech sprouts fear and racially motivated hate crimes. Therefore I believe that it is important for all speech; including white supremacists, to be protected by the First Amendment, unless the speech escalates to a point where human lives are at stake. White supremacists should have the right to voice their opinions without “the fear of being labeled and actual Nazi” (Fox News), and without compromising their safety.…

“We are confronted primarily with a moral issue… old as the scripture and as clear as the American Constitution”(Civil Rights Address, 5). In the “Speech at the March on Washington” Josephine Baker creates a much more effective speech than “Civil Rights Address” by John F. Kennedy for the reason of the reason of using personal anecdote, and appealing to ethos to persuade the audience to speak out. Baker was chosen to speak at the March on Washington because her experience of freedom in France and the racism in the U.S. On the other hand, Kennedy had to address an incident that recently happened in that time period. Baker talks about her experience meaning she appeals to ethos, and personal anecdote, but Kennedy appeals to ethos only and both appeals to call to action.…

The author goes on to say that non-violent protesters even support violence after the tragic event from Charlottesville. In this article, Trump stated the problem that risen in Charlottesville was to blame on both white supremacists and non-violence protesters because he didn’t want white supremacists who started violently to take all the blame. Lastly, Singer claims that non-violent won’t solve the problem and need to find a better solution.
