A sociological theory that is very important is the feminist theory discussed in chapter ten. According to the textbook, “Feminist theory comprises several different strands and feminist sociologists research a great variety of topics. At the core of feminist theory, is a focus on women’s inequality, and how that inequality is structured and experienced at macro and micro levels” (Dillion, 331). The textbook mentions, the struggles of the suffrage movement and the inequality women faced to gain opportunities. The most influential sociologist at the time was Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Gilman focused on gender stratification in much of her work, arguing that economic arrangements were to blame for the gendered division of labor in American society.
