Charlotte Matthews tucked a stray piece of her brown hair behind her ear before continuing to put fragile clarinet into its case. She had been playing the clarinet since she was 8, and she had finally reached her goal of earning a position in the London Symphony. The first thing had done was call her parents, and before she could argue her mother had spent a small fortune getting the best seats available.

Standing up swiftly, she pulled the case close to her thin frame and began her journey to the car. When she opened her car door and began to slip in, her chest suddenly began to tighten. Quickly, she brushed off the feeling and placed her case in the passenger's seat next to her. She pulled out of her driveway and made her way to the

When the concert ended and she began packing up, a nearby conversation between two flutists made her whole body spin around.

“Did you hear about the newbie, Charlotte Matthews?” The taller woman grimly asked her friend.

“I did. What a shame that she crashed today, she was so young,” the smaller woman replied. “I heard her car is still in a mess on Vernon

In the seat, sat herself. It was strange to see her own face, and Charlotte could do nothing but sputter as she looked over the figure that was clearly not breathing. Her hands rested on the dented up door, and she a familiar sob behind her. When she slowly turned around, she saw her parents nearby talking to one of the officers. Her mother looked gorgeous; she had worn her church clothes, and held a bouquet of white roses, which Charlotte presumed were going to be given to her. Her father’s face was scrunched up, and the only other time she had ever seen him this upset is when Charlotte’s grandfather had passed away. She felt guilt wash over her, feeling as if she had caused her parents a great pain when she was supposed to be making them
