In Daniel Keyes’ Flowers for Algernon, Charlie’s motivation plays a key role in him being selected for the study and the success of the experiment. Miss Kinnian recommends Charlie as the test subject for Dr. Strauss and Dr. Nemur’s study because of his relentless motivation and perseverance.
