Charlie was beaming the entire way to his room but in the back of his mind, he still had that small bit of fear there. As he was walking to the elevator, he heard someone calling his name.
“Hey Scarlett, great timing,” Charlie smiled at her and held the elevator.
“Hey,” she smiled brightly back at him, but didn’t look him directly in the eye.
The elevator doors closed and they were silent the entire way up to the fifth floor.
“She’s having doubts. I’m betting that she’s terrified. Hell, she’s probably a virgin…” Charlie pondered as Scarlett stared directly forward at the door.
“Are you ok?” Charlie finally asked as the elevator passed the fourth floor.
Scarlett was silent for a moment like she was thinking of an answer.
“A little nervous, I’m not going to lie,” she chuckled foolishly after a moment and Charlie couldn’t help but

“Well yeah, your room is so much bigger than mine. I remember when I went into your room in the house across from mine and I was so shocked because it was spotless. It looked like no one was even living there and now I understand why. It’s because you weren’t living there,” Scarlett thought and made connections in her mind.
“Yeah…” Charlie chuckled and ran his hand through his hair.
Scarlett walked deeper into his room and she looked absolutely fascinated with everything. There were the two queen sized beds that were on either side of the room. Although they were big, there was still a lot of space left over. There was a black couch on Charlie’s side of the room that looked like it was leather and brand new. There was a brown desk on the other side with papers all over it.
“Wow, I really like your room,” Scarlett said finally as Charlie rummaged through his bedside table.
“Really? Even though you can’t tell what color the carpet is with all the clothes on the floor?” Charlie chuckled and stood up with a little black box in his hand and a smile on his

Today is going to be just like any other day, I sketched in my morning journal. The morning Baltimore sun shone past the skyscrapers of downtown, and light protruded through the silk blinds that covered half of the picture window in my room. I rose up from my queen bed. The sheets had become untucked and the comforter lay halfway off the edge. My back rested against the mahogany headboard with my head fitting perfectly between two of the wooden posts.…

She had lie there for hours, watching the room darken around her as the sun sank beyond the horizon and the moon rose to take her place high in the sky, watching the shadows creep up walls until it was too dark to see more than what was directly in front of her face. Only when the room had faded to an inky blackness had an uneasy sleep come to Presley Sterling. It seemed she had barely closed her eyes before the first nightmare had awoken her, the deep growling voice telling her not to leave her house seemed to follow her, echoing in her brain though she couldn’t remember why the voice had given the command in the first place. It was unsettling, to say the least. Enough so that Presley found that the pitch black of the room that lulled her to sleep was now causing an uncomfortable pressure in the pit of her stomach.…

In the late 1800’s, the dynamic of men and women made it so women were inferior to men. Women were looked upon as having no impact on society other than to have children and take care of the home. It was difficult for women to express themselves in a world controlled by men. The men held the jobs, received educations, and ruled society. In "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the narrator experiences this kind of control from her husband, John.…

Kaitlyn always had a hard time getting along with the other girls. Ever since she was in preschool, she could not understand why girls liked certain things. She preferred to play with toy cars rather than Barbie dolls, and her usual attire consisted of simple jeans and a blue or green t-shirt, frilly pink or purple dresses shoved into the trash. Now that she was 8th grade, she was judged even more. Her only friend was a boy named Jordan, who, quite frankly, had approached her one day in 7th grade and simply announced that he was too “cool” for her.…
