Charles “Charlie” Ng was born on December 24, 1960 in Hong Kong, China. In his early life, he was brutally abused by his father. He came from a wealthy family, but was described as a disturbed teenager. His first criminal offence was when he was arrested for shoplifting. This happened when he was fifteen and his father sent him to boarding school but, he was sent back to Hong Kong because he was caught stealing. When he was eighteen, he moved to America to attend Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. He studied biology but then dropped out after the first semester. Ng was involved in a hit-and-run crime in 1980 and in order to avoid prosecution, he lied about his place of birth and joined the Marines. Less than a year later, …show more content…
Their first victim was Lake’s brother in early 1983. As they continued, they also killed Lake’s best man and his neighbor. Among the victims were Ng’s former cellmate from Leavenworth and his girlfriend and baby. Lake and Ng responded to many ads found in newspapers and other sources, which was one of their strategies for luring victims to the cabin. The partners killed a variety of people ranging from men to babies to women. The men and babies were mostly killed immediately but the women were left alive to be tortured and raped before they were murdered. The duo killed their victims by shooting them or by various torturing methods. Found at the scene of the crimes were videos of Lake and Ng torturing and raping the victims as well as writings from Lake which revealed information about his desire for sexual slaves and details to how they chose their victims. The accomplices gave their female victims the option of being prisoners for the two and working for them as well as fulfilling their sexual desires, or they can say no and be raped and then shot.
