Charlie Moore: A Short Story

The Moore name was hard to live up too, they were well known as well as loved but Charlie the last generation of the men was the son his family never wanted. Charlie Moore’s father passed away about five years ago during his senior year of high school, leaving him with all the money in the world, his family's million dollar hotel, and some broken dreams for his future. He did not see the purpose of all the money, nor did he want to live the high life that they all did. It was not ideal in his mind to live a life like that. His father made him feel like he needed to abandon his passion and run the business. When he graduated, he planned to go to college and major in photography, he dreamt of running around cities using his photos to raise …show more content…
He got up after a little while and decided to spend the day exploring the city. He saw a man on the corner of the street off the highway, holding a sign that read “anything can help, god bless” he dropped $5 in the can and asked him,
“May I sit?”
“Of course sir!” The man said with excitement.
He sat down with the man and asked him all sorts of questions about his life and where he came from. Charlie was touched by the man's story and in that moment, it occurred to him that he had in his bag something that could change this man’s life. He took out one of the goblets and handed it to the man. Charlie told him, “This is for you, it is worth more money than you could imagine and I want you to have it.” “Why are you giving this to me?” the man said surprised “Because you deserve a fresh start, just like I do.” Charlie said,
The man began to cry and gave Charlie a hug “God bless you, god bless you, god bless you…” he said over and over

“Could I please?” he said with excitement.
“Just press that big black button right there” Charlie said.
“Ok 3..2...1 CHEESE!” Jace said happily.
“Can I spend the day with you Jace?” Charlie said eagerly.
“Yes, can we keep taking pictures?” Jace asked timidly.
“You can take as many as you want” Charlie said.
Charlie really liked Jace, and knew he thought he was a good kid, with a bright future. Jace introduced Charlie to the people he knew around the shelter, and took pictures of everybody. Charlie asked Jace if he could take a picture of him. “Only if you make me famous” Jace said. “Oh, I’ll try little man, smile big” Charlie said while laughing
Jace asked Charlie how long he was staying. “I’ll probably head back to my hotel soon but I have something I want to give you” Charlie said.
“A present?” Jace said with excitement
Charlie took out one of the goblets.
“This is a goblet, it is worth a lot of money and Jace I want you and your mother to have it and start over and create an amazing life for you” Charlie said.
