In Flowers For Algernon, Daniel Keyes does a great job of creating Charlie Gordon and his struggles to keep a steady relationship , friends and the reason for algernon's decreasing IQ.
One of Charlie's struggles is to keep a steady relationship , in the story Charlie has two relationships; one with alice Kinnian, and another with Fay. His first relationship with Alice Kinnian first started when he got smarter, he began seeing how beautiful she was and started showing his affection for her. Before the experiment he was nice and kind but since then he has been mean snarky and he is impatient because he is smarter than everyone. One example of this is when he was still working at the bakery he would always be better then everyone, act smarter than everyone, and if they did not understand something he would get annoyed. His relationship with the people at the lab has gotten bad to because at the convention he realized that the professors were fake and that he is smarter than them. This lead for him to believe he did not have to listen to them.
