Bill Murray was born in Wilmette, Illinois on Septemebr 21, 1950. He has eight brothers and sisters, from parents Lucille Collins, a mail room clerk, and Edward Joseph Murray II, a lumber salesman. During Murray’s teen years he went to school and had a normal life. Later he became the lead singer of a rock band, Dutch Brothers, that performed at his local high school and community. At the age of 24, Bill Murray was invited to Second City improv comedy group, in Chicago, by his older brother. After a few years of improv, Murray moved to New York, to work on Saturday Night Live, with Howard Cosell. Improv is when an actor goes on stage and acts out anything he or she wants to do. Improv is made up on the spot. Bill Murray’s debut was in the movie Meatballs. In the movie Meatballs, Bill Murray plays Tripper, a camp counselor, who takes an outcast under his wing and becomes friends with him and they help each other with all of the problems each one has. A later movie that Murray was in that had a big impact on his career was, Ghostbusters. Murray made a deal with Columbia Pictures to star in Ghostbusters, so they would help him by supporting him in his film The Razor’s Edge. After The Razor’s Edge came out, which did not have a good opening, Murray took four years off from acting to go back to school. During this time his son Luke was born. This is because most people understand the modern day movies easier than the older ones. This is true because you can hear what everyone is saying. Even if one did not see something, they heard what was said and would know what happened already. One does not have to see what happened to know that what the character said was funny. When one watches a silent comedy they have to make sure that they watch the whole movie because if they miss one part of the movie they will get lost with what is happening.
