Praise may be given to Johnny Depp, as the ingenious chocolatier Willy Wonka, and Freddie Highmore, who plays kind-hearted protagonist Charlie Bucket. Their contradictory characters and personalities create a perfectly warmhearted pair that shows how much complete opposites can have in common. Charlie's poor family, consisting of his parents and four bedridden grandparents, put on a convincing show that surely and rightfully will leave anyone feeling complete pity for them. As the story progresses, Charlie meets his four factory-touring companions who practically embody the seven deadly sins, with Augustus Gloop as gluttony, Violete Beauregarde as pride, Veruca Salt as greed, and Mike Teavee as a nasty mixture of sloth and wrath.
