Downtown Los Angeles was still yet small when Charles Von der Ahe opened up his store that wiped out his savings, a 6.6 yards grocery store. Charles Von der Ahe then did “Cash and carry” which was also similar to “charge and delivery” in 1928 he then expanded to 87 stores. Charles Von der Ahe a father of 8 children, out of the eight, two of his sons followed his footsteps, after Charles Von der Ahe sold his chain of stores due to the depression. Von der Ahe was then convinced by his two sons, Wilfred known as William, and Theodore known as Ted, to bring back pre packaged meat and deli items. Ted and William then reestablished Vons with a store of the corner of Santa Barbara, with such well developed minds, the two seeked innovation and growth of the company, In 1970 the company expanded to 159 stores with over 16,000 employees, with the firmly and stable #1 retailer store in Southern California. …show more content…
Vons has had rivalry with Ralph's, throughout many years with the fight of which store produces the most healthy and affordable prices for the community. Vons as well has really great products and at really great prices, also known for comparing prices, shop smart, eat well, feel great. Some Vons as well has their own cooking station where the meat products is freshly made. Vons now produces fresh quality food at a reasonable price, where the customer will be satisfied with the taste as well the price of the merchandise.
