Born 26th October, 1757 in Charleston, South Carolina, Charles Pinckney served an influential military career as a lieutenant and was an important influence in the writing of the
Constitution
of America. He fought in wars against the British and was captured. After his release Pinckney studied law before he served in the continental congress , representing South Carolina.Pinckney has recently been appointed the 37th governor of South Carolina. Pinckneys father , a wealthy planter and lawyer had him taught at a young age that if
