He came into the world on February 4th, 1902 in Detroit, Michigan. He is the son of Charles August and Evangeline Lodge Land Lindbergh. Charles Lindbergh made a total eighty two stops and took a total of 22,000 miles. During The Guggenheim Tour while staying in Mexico he met his future wife Anne Morrow. Charles Lindbergh married Anne Morrow in 1929. They took many flights for new flying routes around the world.
Between the years 1931 to 1935 Charles Lindbergh invented the artificial heart for a French surgeon/biologist named Alexis Carrel. This invention helped to pump the necessary fluids and other substances to various organs to keep the person alive.
In 1932 the Lindbergh’s oldest son Charles Augustus Jr. went missing on May 1. After a ten week long search the Lindbergh’s son was found lifeless in the woods not far from the Lindbergh’s home. A man named Bruno Hauptmann, the man, responsible for taking and killing the Lindbergh’s child. The court saw Bruno Hauptman as guilty and the court sentenced him to the electric chair in 1936. After the trial the Lindbergh’s and their son traveled to France and Germany to tour their air bases. While staying in Germany, a man named Hermann Goering awarded Lindbergh the German Medal of Honor because the aircraft in Nazi area Germany had fascinated Lindbergh. Many Americans saw this as a support for Nazism.
During World War 2 Lindbergh and his family returned to the United States and started an anti-war organization. Charles Lindbergh wrote many speeches about opposing President Roosevelt’s Foreign Policies. President Roosevelt took away Lindbergh’s rights as an United States Army Air Corps pilot after smearing his name through the mud. Charles Lindbergh quit giving speeches after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941.
Charles Lindbergh tried to re-enlist into the but denied after trying. He however didn’t stop there and ended up becoming a technical advisor and test pilot for the Ford Companies. In 1944 Charles Lindbergh went to the Pacific Islands and advised for the Army and the Navy. Charles Lindbergh developed cruise control for the fighter pilot planes. After the war President Eisenhower asked Charles Lindbergh to become a consultant to him. After that President Eisenhower gave Lindbergh back his commission and gave him the title of Brigadier General in the United States Air
