The dynamic in a group or team can be different from one to another. Some members click right away, some members share common interests, and some don’t. The important thing in a team is how they function. But what makes a team perform better? Is it members with some interest? Is it the leader? Or is it the norms? Those questions lead to “Psychological Safety”- when member feels they have a voice, and they can express themselves will lead to a better performance at their work place or community. Charles Duhigg the author of “Teams- Psychological Safety in Google and Saturday night live” explores the relation between leaders, team success, and how psychological safety can make them perform better. Because leadership is associated with power, control, and judgment, members don’t feel safe which leads to less success and less productivity of the team. To achieve success in any team, leaders need to alter their behaviors and conduct the right norms to create a safe environment.
