Charles W. Dent was born May 24, 1960 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Minimal information is available about his childhood. He graduated from William Allen High School in 1978. He attended Pennsylvania State University, where he got a degree in Foreign Service and International Politics in 1982. While earning his Master’s in Public Administration from Lehigh University in 1993, Dent also worked as development officer for the university. He was an aide to then-Representative Don Ritter and even an industrial electronics salesman before he worked in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. After serving in the House for 8 years, he served in the State Senate for another 6. Dent joined the United States House of Representatives in January 2005.
