De Gaulle was very resilient throughout his life. He exemplified this quality many times during his leadership as one of France's President's. In August of 1944, Charles de Gaulle was named President of France. De Gaulle began leading France in the direction he thought that was best for the country but after being ignored and disrespected many times. However, just two years later in 1946, de Gaulle announced his resignation and due to his frustrations with political parties forming the coalition government. This resignation did not discourage de Gaulle in any way. It only ignited a deeper passion to fight for the vision that he had in making his country a better place. In 1947 de Gaulle formed a mass movement known as the Rally of the French People in which became the political party during the elections of 1951, when it won 120 seats in the National Assembly. In 1958, de Gaulle campaigned against its constitution, which, he charged, was likely to reproduce the political and governmental inadequacies of the Third Republic. A revolt French held Algeria which threatened a civil war in France. De Gaulle was called upon to lead the country again and of course he took on the charge. Soon after, his way of government was approved and De Gaulle began to make the country of France better financially and for its military. He expressed great tolerance many times. De Gaulle gave advice to the government in 1940, though it went unheeded. He was patient and tolerant enough to listen to and accept the opinion of others and simply move on. Again in 1944. De Gaulle was elected president and wanted to start a new government but he couldn’t because of the ideas and opinions of others which affected the direction of the country which at the time, he did not want to be a part of causing his resignation. De Gaulle was very aware of his country's well-being. He knew that going back into the political arena for France would be a gamble to say the least. But his love for his country aided in his tolerance for its government to work diligently to help direct France into the Country it is known for today. This true adaptive leadership quality allowed him to be a listener and he never disrespected the opinions of others.
