Charles Darwin defined natural selection as it refers to genetic change or changes in the frequencies of certain traits in populations due to differential reproductive success between individuals. Humans have successfully reproduced for centuries and have adapted, even changed their environment. Natural selection is evidently just evolution. For centuries, there was an idea that diametrically opposed the theory to biological evolution that noted a species once created can never change. This idea was called fixity of species. A French naturalist named Jean-Baptiste Lamarck is credited toward explaining how natural selection works for mother nature and disproves the idea that a species never changes.
