I had the pleasure of meeting a local legend from the small city of Prairie Grove. A man with determination and a strong work ethic which he has applied to every job he has ever worked. He is a family man, a community leader and dedicated to his city. It is this dedication that is most admirable, his positive outlook and genuine commitment to all facets of life shows not only in his actions but in his character as well.
Charles D. Hudson II, better known as “Sonny”, which was a nickname given to him by his father Charles Hudson at birth. Sonny was born in Springfield, Missouri where he lived with his father Charles Hudson and his mother Earlene Hudson along with his three other siblings. After graduation Sonny and Becky were married and he began working for Arkansas Western Gas in Springdale and Becky went to school to become a school teacher, where she worked for thirty years for the Prairie Grove School District. Sonny worked with the company for thirty-five years, this job was the first in a long line of examples of his dedication. He worked at the gas company steadily and due to his hard work and determination he eventually became the manager, and after eight years of working for the company, and furthering his education in business and management he became a manager. During those eight years he showed that he was eager and willing to learn new things in order to stay current with the company’s growth and expansion. His title changes again during those eight years, but this wasn’t work related, this was the beginning of a new chapter in his life, he became a father. When I asked Sonny to tell me what was one of his favorite family memories, he said, “when my son, Derek, was born.” Now with the promotion and his son in mind he decided to move his family to Prairie Grove. He thought that it would be beneficial to live in a small town with a growing community and he was able to transfer to the Prairie Grove branch within the gas
