For the past four years I have had the pleasure of working for a Non-Profit Organization named Seven Hills Foundation. It was created in 1951, by a small group of parents of disabled children, sharing the same vision. That vision was to advocate and improve the lives of their children while providing support to each other when needed. Since that time, Seven Hills foundation has flourished into one of the largest support networks for individuals with life challenges. Seven Hills Foundation has an organizational culture that appeals to many people.…
A Pledge Against Water Privatization The World Bank has predicted that by 2025, more than half of the population will start running out of drinking water. When such numbers are presented as cold facts to the population, non-action is becoming less and less an option. This gloomy prediction however, is not unanimously seen as bad news; in fact, this impending doom is seen as a valuable business opportunity for numerous multinational business who are trying to monetize the misery of water starving regions. The water privatization movement is gaining more momentum every day and it is often supported by the government who is gradually discontinuing protection of this vital resource, transferring control from public sector to the private sector.…

Every minute, a child dies from a water-related disease; combine that with adult fatalities from the same diseases, and the number skyrockets to more than 840,000 annual deaths (“Water Facts”). These individuals are only a tiny fraction of the 750 million people worldwide without access to clean drinking water, water that is often used to sustain what little agriculture they may be cultivating. This crisis closely interrelates with the worldwide hunger issue, which is so prevalent that 21,000 people die each day (one every four seconds) of hunger and hunger-related ailments (“Hunger and World Poverty”). These predicaments both cause and are caused by extreme poverty, particularly in rural areas, and are especially rampant in developing nations.…

Clean water not only means less money spend on medicine but also means more money for education. Besides that, when people own a private water filter, they can use safe drinking water without walking to the nearest water source as they did before. Some women in Sub-Saharan Africa spend more time collecting water than other any activities they are doing a day. Hence, with a solution like using water filters, it can help to save 40 billion hours annually fetching water; that is an entire year's work in all of France (The water project, 2014). Furthermore, the walk is not just hard but it is dangerous, the women or girls who step out unaccompanied and burden with a large amount of water may be get hurt, sometimes they even are attacked by strange people.…
