currently work for a retail organization that is globally well known. The retail organization was built to provide products and customer services to consumers worldwide. The retail store consists of a store manager, department managers, human resource, sales associates ' and security teams. The organization relies on sales, profit in order to remain competitive in today 's marketing industry. However, without the sales associates willingness to participate in the organization’s goals and objectives, the organization will not have the ability to maintain their place in today 's marketing industry. Since I work for a retail industry, most retail industry provides incentives or rewards to their employees. Transactional leadership “ is a transaction or exchange process between leaders and follower… recognizes followers needs and desire and then clarifies how those needs and desires will be satisfied in exchange…” (Daft, 2015, pg 360) The organization I work for relies on sales profits from customers. In order to motivate their employees to have a high performance, the company organizes incentives or rewards such as store credit, discounts and sometimes cash. Secondly, there is no pay increase to the next following years for the employees with low sales performance. However, as a leader, it is my main responsibilities to make sure I enforce the company rules to the employees and maintaining the structure of the organization. (Cherry, 2015) It is very important that employees have a valid understanding of what they are expected to do, in order to earn rewards or incentives. Additionally, as a leader, it is also important to monitor these procedures in order to achieve the organization’s goals and …show more content…
I believe encouragement is the most important ways to motivate employees. As a manager for a retail store, there will be days where sales are low, issues with customers or other issues that involves internally within the organization. A manager is responsible to assuring the employees have the skills and knowledge that will help them succeed, while making sure to praising them their hard work and dedication to the company. While assuring the employees for their skills and knowledge will help them succeed and praising them for their commitment, it is also important to share this information with other employees. One best way to encourage an employee is to tell others his or her work ethics because it will create a culture of encouragement (McWilliams, 2015) In order to influence other members of the team, it is important to praise them for their work, while helping other members succeed.
