In this book written in 1971 by Australian author Louis Nara. In the play I found it really interesting to how the book portrays each male and females character. I will go over each of the main character and describe their main role in the book.
Lewis– 21-25 (main character)
The first character who’s shown a lot throughout the book is Lewis. The book shows in the beginning of Lewis attending UNI study in wanting to finish his studies so he can get a directing job where he can direct a play of his as an institution putting on a variety show with the inmates. He lives with his girlfriend who is a main character (Lucy).
(A very hard working character with strong goals)
Roy- 50 (main character)
Roy in the book is portrayed as a director and actor. Roy’s had a dream was that was to put on …show more content…
Cherry just like the many other characters in the book has been in and out of institutions all her life. She seems very protective in taking Lewis under her love as she is also very sincere in letting her feeling for him be shown to all especially Julie. She’s mostly violence if pushed.
(Cherry is very outrageous, with many mood swings that can be very believable)
Doug- 25 + (main character)
Doug the character that everyone knows and hates. He is the character that I’ll be playing in my groups play. Doug is character that is always in your face, rude, jealous (as shown with Lewis) and hateful. There is nothing to like about Doug except when you can’t help yourself. Doug is a pyromaniac who ended up in an asylum after burning not buildings but cats (he has an addiction for burning things). What he loves most is to antagonise everyone and annoy as many people as he can (mainly shown towards Lewis).
(He’ll be a very difficult and interesting character to work with but I’ll sure try my
