Alving, being dependent on the advice of other people, the main contributor in making her own life more miserable. Her decisions were always based on what Pastor Manders think, making her lose control over her personal life. I know that religious persons may sometimes be right in terms of the advices that they give; however, this scenario has increased my knowledge of how we should not let other people manipulate our lives because in the end, it would be just ourselves who will suffer from its consequences. Even if Pastor Manders was more knowledgeable about certain things at that time, as women are not Mrs. Alving should have trust her own guts so that in the end, there is no one liable for what is happening but only her. In today’s world, religion attempts to govern our society. They always tell about what decisions of the government are moral and immoral. Due to a strong faith, some people choose to believe in them, which results to a significant division in our society. Similarly, we may observe chaos in our community.
I would highly recommend Henrik Ibsen’s play, the “Ghosts”, to those people, who are experiencing the same problems and social issues that are reflected in the story. It would teach the people of how our mistakes in the past can backfire and lead to consequences in the future. Moreover, it is through these analyses of the roles of the characters that we would be able to distinguish which decision and actions should be done or avoided, thus helping us become as good as we can be, not only for the sake of our selves, but also for the society that we live
