After Slim meets Lennie and George, Carlson asks Slim about the pups the dog had last night and he replied with. "She slang her pups last night," said Slim. "Nine of ‘em. I drowned four of ‘em right off. She couldn’t feed that many." This shows that Slim has high worth because of how he treated the mother of the pups. Slim kills the dogs because the mother will not be able to feed all of the pups killing more than just nine pups. Slim has high worth because even though he killed some pups in the end he managed to save the mother and the other pups After Curly started fighting with Lennie, Lennie took the beating, but after a while he got mad and crushed his hand and Slim tells Curly this. “You got your senses in hand enough to listen?" he asked. Curley nodded. "Well then listen," Slim went on. "I think you got your han ' caught in a machine. If you don 't tell nobody what happened, we ain 't going to. But you jus ' tell an ' try to get this guy canned and we 'll tell ever 'body, an ' then will you get the laugh.” This shows that slim has high worth because of how he treats Curley. Curry would have told the boss to kill Lennie if the boss found out that Lennie broke his son 's hand, not only that but Curley 's gang would have beat up Lennie. Slim shows his kindness by using his figurative one wish, to help Lennie instead of using the one wish for himself …show more content…
When Curley walked into the bunkhouse looking for his wife, he meets, Lennie and George for the first time and does this. “ He glanced coldly at George and then at Lennie. His arms gradually bent at the elbows and his hands closed into fists. He stiffened and went into a slight crouch. His glance was at once calculating and pugnacious. Lennie squirmed under the look and shifted his feet nervously.” This scene in the book shows that Curley has low value because of how he treats Lennie. This shows low worth because Curley is ready to fight and he is prepared to win. Curley has a plan if Lennie beats him up, he will get everyone on the farm to beat Lennie up because he is so big he should pick on someone his own size; and if he wins he will be praised for beating up someone bigger than him. Curley knows he’s going to win so he tries to intimate Lennie by giving him a calculating gaze, it is apparent that Lennie is nervous and afraid when the narrator tells us “Lennie squirmed under the look and shifted his feet nervously.” After Carlison came back from shooting the dog and Slim is also back from the barn, he and Curley are arguing because Curley had blamed him for him sleeping with his wife. When he comes into the bunkhouse he is insulted by Carlson and is furious when he spots Lennie smiling thinking about the rabbits. He reacts as follows “Lennie looked helplessly at George, and then
