Villains and heroes make up the plots of stories. You can’t have a story without a villain who will do whatever it takes to destroy someone’s happiness or destroy the world. But just because you have those characters does not mean it is always easy to figure out who is who. A lot of times heroes are just people who take out the bad guy and has his or her own personal issues. Whatever the case may be when it comes to our villains and their stories they always have a few things in common. They want to either hurt the protagonist or some other innocent, they are hateful, mean, and typically start off psychotic or end psychotic. Whether or not they are any better than the hero they always have features that are ten times worse than the protagonist and do things that are not normal to day to day society. If you give a villain who is blatantly bad and a hero who is only somewhat bad you are going to root for the hero without a doubt. If you take Ganelon from The Song of Roland, you can see how most villains are a lot like him. Somewhere along the lines of the book he ruins someone’s life, kills, and gets revenge over something insignificant or something that could have been resolved had ego not been at stake.
In most stories the two main characters are typically the villain and the hero who fight either for the greater good or for selfish reasons. When reading these stories however the reader at times will find two main characters who both have villain like traits. Another example would be when Scout and Jem were attacked, “His stomach was soft but his arms were like steel. He slowly squeezed the breath out of me. I could not move” (Lee 301). While Atticus may represent the good within the world, on the other hand there is Bob Ewell who tried to kill Scout and Jem. Without the existence of evil, Bob Ewell, the conflict of the story wouldn’t have existed and Tom Robinson would have been alive.…

Although most of the characters didn’t have much of a heroic side I believe the filmmakers put an emphasis on the motives of these characters, which determines whether they are villainous or heroic. In the case of this film, I would label Llewelyn Moss and Anton Chiguhr as the main culprits that are highly motivated by similar values. Llewelyn comes across a suitcase filled with two million dollars in the middle of a field. After taking the suitcase back home and burying it under his house, Llewelyn returns to the field where he found the suitcase. The owners of the suitcase were waiting at the field and chased Llewelyn.…

The Villain is typically the person who represents evil in a story (Jung.) In Fahrenheit 451 Beatty represents this evil dystopian society. He is the only character who truly tells us the reasons for this society’s beliefs. Throughout this story he is constantly trying to belittle Montag’s new beliefs and hold him back. My favorite villain is venom from the spider man movies and comics. Venom is also is getting his own movie either this year or next year. Venom isn't really a person, Venom is a sort of liquid called symbiote, they have minds of their own and can move and take over people's bodies and minds. What makes Venom a good villain is that he's not that smart but he plays by the dark since Venom is black and uses that as an advantage by fighting during the night. Within Julius Caesar there is much debate as to who the real protagonists and antagonists are, especially when it comes to the character Brutus. Some argue that Shakespeare meant for Brutus to be the villain of Julius Caesar, but I believe that Brutus is a protagonist in this story. He possesses many characteristics associated with tragic heroes, a.k.a protagonists, he plays a major role in the story, and his role is capable of being interpreted in many different ways. When the question of protagonist or antagonist is raised, many people get hung up on the idea that these words are synonymous with good and bad, right and wrong. Some might rush to call Brutus an antagonist because hey killing people is bad, but before making a decision you…

Villains are evil ,but necessary. Good and bad co-exist in the world. The value of one cannot be realized without the presence of the other. “What the world fails to realise is a villain is just a victim whose story hasn’t been told” (Colfer.) This quote comes from Chris Colfer and I think it should be in the back of everyone’s mind when reading or watching a villain’s behavior and actions. Just as our hero can turn out to be wicked, our villain could actually be the most heroic character in a story. You can never take what’s happening for face value right away; you have to think outside of what you’re being presented. Perhaps there is more to a story than you realise.…

Just as Atticus Finch depicts an archetypal character of a hero, Walter White is also granted with the most prominent role of an Anti-Hero in Breaking Bad. An Anti-Hero is a protagonist and a central character that lacks attributes that make a heroic figure. Often, in movies, books or TV shows an Anti-Hero is introduced as someone who possesses both good and bad qualities. Such include being unwelcomed, cryptic, bewildered, ineffectual, or merely apathetic. Thus, Walter White is an Anti-Hero that is both preconventional and postconventional; he seizes characteristics of being conceited yet sympathetic and dedicated.…
