Individuals attending casinos do not necessarily imply they gamble; for example, they could be working there and trying to make an income for their family. Communities who disapprove of casinos do not realize the positive impacts these casinos can contribute to there communities. Commercial gambling within British Columbia has assisted with more than $1 billion of revenues to further fund health care, education and community programs across the province (Columbia, 2013). Nevertheless, this is not important when looking at the negative social impact a casino can bring to a community according to religious primates. Roman Catholics across the Greater Toronto Area have been informed through a local article report that any beneficial impacts casinos may have on their communities will in fact be outweighed by the negative social impacts that arise (Dhillon). They warn the community that serious public health concerns with addiction can arise and create damage to marriages and families, and develop situations that cannot return to the original “happy” state these families were once in. While this report may have various truth to it, it is in fact very one sided to the Catholic community and religious side of deciding wither a casino is good for the Greater Toronto Area or not. It does not consider any positive impacts the casinos can bring and it is important for the community to realize that when an Archbishop is making such strong opinions and statements, they are under the influence of strong religious beliefs and it can be very biased for the decision of developing more casinos within the
