1) The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Test was very beneficial giving me insight on who I am and the strengths and weaknesses I possess. My results were ESTP which is extraversion, sensing, thinking, and perceiving. MBTI describes ESTP’s as a “Flexible and tolerant, they take a pragmatic approach focused on immediate results. Theories and conceptual explanations bore them---they want to act energetically to solve the problem. Focus on the here and now, spontaneous, enjoy each moment that they can be active with others. Enjoy material comforts and style. Learn best through doing (Myers, I.B., 1998). My personality is more laid back and this gives me the ability to be flexible. There are people who cannot function if things do not go according …show more content…
Applicants have the opportunity to reflect their strengths and skills that best benefit the job they are searching for. We had the chance to experience a mock interview during this semester which helped us gain insight in the search for a job. Before attending the mock interview we were taught how to assemble a resume and cover letter. This will help me obtain a future job because it will get me into the interview stage. This experience helped me understand the different aspects that an individual can bring to the prospective job. I learned how to appropriately speak about myself with a 30-second speech, which includes my major, any organizations I am a member of that enhances my strength, and any skills that are beneficial. Throughout the process of preparing for the mock interview, I was able to understand that there is importance in knowing background information before going into an interview. I learned that having a specific goal is important because the employer seeks individuals who are hard workers and are willing to advance in the field. The first impression is important when attending an interview and we learned attire should be the main focus. Dressing professional can demonstrate a couple things to the employer such as respect for yourself and the position. It can also increase the chances of hire. I think experiencing a mock interview as a grade in class gave us the ability to …show more content…
I believe that each individual possess good and bad attributes. I have three that make me who I am. These three attributes are patience, ambition, and a good heart. I say this about myself because I have had plenty of experiences in my life that have proven this to me. I realized that I have a lot of patience after I entered college. When I decided to attend Alvernia University I had high hopes for what my college experience would be like. I am happy to say that I have grown a lot as a student and a person while in college. I learned that when you 're in the work world you will need patience and a lot of it. There will be times when you and the client will not see eye to eye. Also, there may be cases when teamwork does not go as smooth as it should. In college, I have developed patience through various group projects and also through working several jobs at once. I’ve had the opportunity to work as a Supervisor and through this I have learned how to communicate effectively with others and also how to properly listen when being spoken to. There are times when you have to put your personal feelings aside and get the job done. This is not possible if one does not possess the skill of patience. There are a lot of skills that an “outstanding employee” retains. One of which is ambition. I have always been an ambitious worker because of my parents. I come from a partially educated family. My parents migrated from South

This leads the perspective employee to lack the skill required to overcome the problem at hand and create a fitting solution on the fly. This is particularly problematic since, in business, time is money.…

At the corner of Walker St. and Crescent St., across the road from Walker Jr. High School, passed La Palma Hospital, lies the largest campus of Anaheim Union High School District, John F. Kennedy (JFK) High School. From the parking lot into the school, I see Kennedy ’s quote, painted on the edge of the entrance, stating, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” Many other quotes by graduating classes were painted on the edge of the hallway overheads with the year underneath and all meant to inspire people. First impressions are extremely important and an insightful could gather a lot of information about some from just a first impression whether it is right or wrong. While working on interviewing skills, we saw first-hand what a first impression could do to the entire situation. I also learned the importance of researching the company and the culture of the company that you are interviewing for. The cultural aspect is probably the most important because if you don’t fit the culture of that company, then you job can become miserable and it becomes difficult for you to stay. Going on the “The City You Never See” bus tour with Sister Berta and going to the behavioral health site tours were both humbling experiences.…

I wish I used less fillers and mazes and was more precise. Sometimes, I would use too much selective attention, for example I focused so much on the interviewee’s family relationships and reciprocal treatment, that I forgot to ask about her resentment for putting others first. I also could have questioned her coping skills regarding her family’s laxity. Whereas in interview one, I believe my strengths included providing great minimal encouragers, nodding my head, counselor congruence, and showing greater interest.…
