Characteristics Of The Bennetto Family

Decent Essays
There are some characteristics that are similar between the Bennetto family and mine. I don’t have the same father situation as Charley has in the story, but I know what it is like for my dad to always push me to apex in everything I do. Even though my father doesn’t only care how I do in sports, I still felt like I let him down throughout my high school career. Which I think is similar in some way to what Charley’s dad did to him, but fortunately I've have my dad my whole life and he has always been there for me. I am close to most of my family members, which Charley is never around his family or sister. Through the years my brother has been secluded from the rest of the family, but I understand that he wants to go a diverse way in his life

The character in Fences I most identify with is Cory Maxson, the son of the lead character in the book, Troy Maxson. He is my favorite character and the one I identify the most with because we are both young men who are driven and capable and who ultimately want to fend for themselves in the world and prove to our parents that we can make it and succeed in this life with or without any type of forced assistance or control from them. I do share some similarities with Cory Maxson but we also have some differences concerning certain aspects of our lives. Cory Maxson and I share some traits related to our relationships with our respective parents. Cory has a complicated relationship with his father, trying to prove that he can be a man, succeed…

While watching Little Miss Sunshine, I was drawn to Dwayne Hoover. He struck me at first as a stereotypical teenager, but became more than that when it is revealed that he has taken a vow of silence until he is in the Air Force. The adversities he faces are first, being in his teenage year, which I consider adversity enough, and also coming for his family. His father is exceptionally goal oriented and is very intense about his 9 step program, his parents argue a lot and divorce is mentioned, his uncle who attempted suicide is now living in his bedroom, his grandfather got kicked out of a nursing home for smoking heroin, and now he has to sit in a van for hours and hours for his little sister’s pageant. Later on in the movie we learn that he is colorblind, and can therefore not fulfill his dream to fly a plane for the Air Force.…

Dear Rutledge, I know I’m only a teenager and teenagers aren’t usually associated with wisdom, but I’ve gone through a hand share of life lessons in my life. I’ve come to learn life isn’t about how many friends you have or how many people you know, but instead about how to fill your life with the characters that really matter. One of my middle brothers, Lucas Wheeler, was always the troublemaker of the family. Ever since the day my father left my mother, he has made my mom’s life a living hell at times. He was by far the closest to my biological father, so the day that he left was not easy for Lucas. He used to spit at my mom when he was mad at her and said “how do you like that?” My mother would have to hold him down while he threw a temper tantrum and when he was done, he would cry and say “I just want my dad”.…
