Specifically when Neil disobeys his father's wishes he brings him home and informs him that he will be attending a military instead of Welton Academy due to his disobedience. Continuing on the idea of individualism, Mr. Keating is the beacon of individuality that encourages the boys of Welton Academy to begin their search for who they are not who they are supposed to be. Also, the ending scene of the movie shows a strong sense of individualism when almost all of Mr.Keating's students disobey their new teacher and stand on their desks and say, “O Captain!
