Netball is a sport played with a ball and two teams of seven players. Netball games are played on a rectangular court surface with two raised goal posts with rings on the top. The rings are used to shoot the ball in. Each player has a specific position to play on the court and certain players are restricted to a certain place. Each team has a Goal Shooter, Goal Attack, Wing Attack, Centre, Wing Defence, Goal Defence and Goal Keeper.

Mental toughness is also known as a form of mental resilience. Athletes that are mentally tough have a high sense of self-confidence and they can control their destiny as they can control how pressure affects when having to perform. To be mentally tough you need to have motivation, self-confidence and the athlete needs to be able to cope with pressure which causes them to have a high level of concentration. (Jones et al., 2002). The athlete finds it difficult to perform at a certain level of competition as they are not mentally ready. The athlete might not be as motivated to perform and focus on the task at hand. Factors that influence mental weakness are lack of self-confidence, motivation, lack of social support and when the athlete hasn’t been training that certain technique and they are expected to perform it. When an athlete hasn’t been giving a chance to perform it also affects their mental toughness as they aren’t emotional ready to perform.
