Native Americans And Their Influence On Native American Culture

Throughout America’s history many things have come and gone and even the people who first lived in the new world have become a new. Even though the people who live on this land today are not the same culture as before, many traits and ideas have tested time and still live in the culture of Americans. These traits are either positive or negative. The traits influence the culture of Americans. The first people of America were Native Americans, and they were a foraging culture (hunters and gathers) and a culture that has a connection to nature spirituality. Because the Europeans were from a different culture than the Native Americans, they had different traits and ideas to their culture. The Europeans culture had agriculture, religion, and a system of government. Even though Americas past time is filled with varying cultures of people, they all share traits and ideas that are seen today’s culture From the Native American story-telling to the European poems, letters, and history, good traits surround these texts; in fact, some of these past traits continue to impact American today in a positive way. Good traits that can be portrayed from the texts include, spiritual involvement, traditions, hard work, teamwork, and achievement. Through the Native Americans stories, The Iroquois Creation, the Raven Steals the Light, How Mosquitoes Came To Be, Creation of the Animal People, and Ghost Dance at Wounded Knee, all share a spiritual story about nature in some way.
