A cross between a Dachshund and a Poodle, the Doxiepoo is able to exhibit all of the various attributes of its parents. These dogs can be incredibly smart, but may have a stubborn side from time to time. They can also be exceptionally friendly, but might be suspicious of people they don’t know. Like with any crossbreed, you can’t be quite sure exactly what you’re going to get with a Doxiepoo, but these dogs do tend to be very gentle and joyful creatures in general. They appreciate human company and will become very sad if left alone, so definitely need owners who are able to spend lots of time with them.
Doxiepoos can get along perfectly well with almost any human, but may struggle with other animals. They like to be the center of attention and can be a bit bossy with other dogs and cats. They may even grow jealous of young children, so need to be raised with care. They also have a real tendency to be quite greedy dogs and can easily gain weight without proper control. This problem can therefore ruin the animal’s life and also lead to excessive weight gain. Veterinarians will be able to repair hip dysplasia via surgery.
Patellar Luxation
Similarly to hip dysplasia, patellar luxation is a joint problem. Specifically, this condition affects the kneecap and prevent the legs from bending properly, which creates a lot of pain for the dog. Luckily, this problem can also be successfully treated with surgery. If your dog develops a limp or seems to be struggling to walk around, it may be suffering from patellar luxation.
